Dr. C. Weinhardt: Welcome to Germany. How is the current situation in Georgia after the election of President Michail Sakaashvili ?
Dr. L. Natchkebia: Currently situation I may say started to be improved. But of course we do not have illusion that changes will come very soon. I think we should have enough patience and strong faith towards Mr. Saakashvili. On the other hand population waited for any changes about the last 12 years and now no one could be deluded. People suffered enough and now they are looking forward for the improvements.

Dr. C. Weinhardt: Georgia has become a political midpoint between east and west during the last years. USA and Russia have economic and political interests in Georgia and try to preserve their influence in that region. Do you think that President Michail Saakashvili is able to keep the balance between them.
Dr. L. Natchkebia: Several days before the election, in one of the western newspapers was publication about Georgia and its future. It was written that, if Mr Saakashvili won the elections – cold war between Russia and USA will be resumed. President has no choice he should do every possible things in order to keep the balance.

Dr. C. Weinhardt: Dr. Natchkebia, President Michail Saakashvili has announced that the fight against corruption will be one of the main topics for his presidency. Do the people of Georgia believe in a better economic situation in the future?
Dr. L. Natchkebia: Yes of course. I am sure that every foreigner who even once visited Georgia was impressed with this country and I may say with its potential facilities. For the better economic situation is crucial to quit with the corruption and organise correct economic policy.

Dr. C. Weinhardt: Dr. Natchkebia, do you and your medical colleagues believe in an improved medical supply in Georgia during a successful presidency of Michail Saakashvili?
Dr. L. Natchkebia: It must be improved, otherwise there will be no progress at all.

The German-Georgian Medical Society thank you for that interview. We are ready to support the process in any way as much as we can. We are eager to keep in close contact. Thank you very much.
